Joyce Shohet Ackerman, Ed.D.,Licensed Psychologist

Joyce received her Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado in 1981.  She received her master's degree from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1974. Joyce is listed in the National Register for Health Service Providers in Psychology.  She has worked extensively with childen, couples and  families. She has enjoyed working with relationship and personal growth issues for 30 years.  She currently specializes in mediation, conflict resolution and ReFOCUSment®.  Joyce and retired Judge Lynn Karowsky provide co-mediation services for many types of disputes.  Joyce is married and has two grown daughters.  She enjoys spending time with her family, photography, biking and traveling.

Susan Bromley, Psy.D.,LLC ,Licensed Psychologist

Susan is licensed by the State of Colorado to practice psychology.  She received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver in August 1983.  She received her Master's in Social Work from Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1968.  Susan assists individuals and couples to heal themselves and grow through such techniques as Psychotherapy, hypnosis and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).  Her couple’s hypnosis model for childbirth is helpful for both partners.  Susan began her professional career as a medical social worker with Denver Health and Hospitals.  She is now Emerita professor of psychology from UNC.  She is and has been a volunteer on many community and professional boards.  In her spare time, Susan enjoys being with her four grandchildren and her cats, traveling and going to the theater.

Laurence Kerrigan, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist

Larry received his doctorate in 1974 from California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant University.  Larry works with a broad range of presenting problems, which include depression, anxiety and panic attacks, martial problems, relational and family conflicts.  Larry has taught on both the high school and university level, done prison and jail counseling, and coached high school football and swimming.  He has a Master's degree in Theology and has taught college courses in the area of Western Psychology and Eastern Ways of Liberation for many years.  Larry is an avid reader, enjoys working out and is addicted to Haagen Dazs ice cream.

Lynn Karowsky, JD, Retired Judge

Lynn graduated from Stanford University and the University of Colorado School of Law in 1974.  He has represented small to medium sized businesses, manufacturing companies and lending institutions.  He was on the faculty of the College of Business Administration at the University of Northern Colorado as an assistant professor and taught Business Law there.  He has been a member of the American Arbitration Association Construction Panel and a member of the Colorado Council of Mediators and Mediation Organizations His experience includes: serving as an arbitrator, and mediator in construction, business and domestic relations disputes, Small Claims Court Magistrate and County Court Judge.  Judge Karowsky served as Chief Judge for eight of his eleven years on the bench.  He was also one of the founders and presided over the dedicated Domestic Violence Court for two years.  In 2006, Judge Karowsky was recognized by the Colorado Judicial Institute as the recipient of the Judicial Excellence Award for County Court of Colorado.  Judge Karowsky brings over thirty years of legal experience to Ackerman & Associates’ Mediation Services.  As a practicing lawyer, law professor, mediator, arbitrator and judicial officer, Judge Karowsky brings a unique and comprehensive perspective and understanding of the law, legal conflicts and the skill to resolve them.

Carmen Lucero Haines, M.A., L.P.C.

Carmen Lucero Haines, Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Addictions Counselor II, has 17 years experience in counseling in school and community settings.  She has worked at the North Colorado Mental Health Center since 2005 and with Ackerman and Associates for the past two years.  Carmen also provides our bilingual Spanish services as needed.
