Lynn J. Karowsky graduated from Stanford University and the University of Colorado School of Law in 1974.  He practiced law in Greeley, Colorado for six years representing small to medium sized businesses, manufacturing companies and lending institutions.  He then joined the faculty of the College of Business Administration at the University of Northern Colorado as an assistant professor.  He taught Business Law there for fifteen years. At the same time, he was a member of the American Arbitration Association Construction Panel, and a member of the
Colorado Council of Mediators and Mediation Organizations, serving as an arbitrator, and mediator in construction, business and domestic relations disputes.

Judge Karowsky simultaneously served as a Small Claims Court Magistrate for fifteen years before being appointed as a County Court Judge in 1996 and served in that capacity until he retired in 2007. Judge Karowsky served as Chief Judge for eight of his eleven years on the bench. He was also one of the founders and presided over the dedicated Domestic Violence Court for two years.  In 2006, Judge Karowsky was recognized by the Colorado Judicial Institute as the recipient of the Judicial Excellence Award for County Court of Colorado.

Judge Karowsky brings over thirty years of legal experience to Ackerman & Associates’ Mediation Services.  As a practicing lawyer, law professor, mediator, arbitrator and judicial officer, Judge Karowsky brings a unique and comprehensive perspective and understanding of the law, legal conflicts and the skill to resolve them.
