Dr. Joyce Ackerman is a Licensed Psychologist.  She graduated from Boston University and Lesley College.  She received a doctoral degree from University of Northern Colorado in 1981.  She has been licensed as a psychologist since 1984.

Dr. Ackerman is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Colorado Council of Mediators and Mediation Organizations.  She was an elected board member of the Colorado Psychological Association. She has extensive experience in Weld County Mediations in Family Group Decision Making and has facilitated over a hundred group mediations associated with extended families.

She is the Clinical Director of Ackerman and Associates, P.C. which has served the Weld County area since the early 1990’s.  Dr. Ackerman, within her experience as a Colorado Licensed Psychologist, has been a Custody Evaluator, a Special Advocate, a Parenting Evaluator, a Parenting Coordinator, a Child and Family Investigator and a Decision Maker for the courts.  She has provided expert testimony extensively in the Weld County courts.

Dr. Ackerman has been a mediator, counselor, and psychological evaluator for individuals, couples and families.  A major portion of her practice has been focused on dispute resolution and she brings strong experience to the team approach that she and Judge Karowsky use.  She generally works by herself with the couple for divorce /relationship mediation.  For the other areas of mediation she typically works with Judge Karowsky.  She has also previously worked for ten years in rehabilitation psychology and has expertise working with issues associated with recovery from serious health problems and their impact on the individual, the couple, and family.
